How do you get data feeds for NinjaTrader?

Markets you can trade with NT8

NinjaTrader transmits orders in the live system via API to a broker. The following asset classes can be traded:

The main target group is certainly daytraders, but swing traders and buy & hold investors can also have fun with NT8. You can buy and sell stocks, trade currencies up and down, or trade futures on CME or EUREX. All this is possible. Manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated.

Other NinjaTrader Data Providers

Unfortunately, it’s not free. That means there are additional costs if you want to use a fast real-time data feed for your day-to-day trading.

You can use several NinjaTrader Data Providers for market data connection.

If you want to save money, NinjaTrader has the advantage that with its internal Kinetick data you can pull. At least if you need extensive stock market data (CME, EUREX, etc. and Level II).

Datafeed costs can quickly reach more than 100 dollars per month. With Kinetick, NinjaTrader’s in-house data feed service, you can use end-of-day data including extensive data history for free. Of course, this is only interesting if you are not interested in intraday trading.

You can also connect your broker account to NinjaTrader using your broker’s real-time data feed. If you want to use NinjaTrader in combination with a broker, you should make sure to choose a compatible broker.

Data Feed for NinjaTrader

Currently, the following NinjaTrader data providers and brokers can be connected to NinjaTrader Live Data:

  • Kinetick
  • Barchart
  • Coinbase
  • Continuum
  • CQG
  • eSignal
  • Forex.com
  • FXCM
  • Interactive Brokers
  • IQFeed
  • Oanda
  • Rithmic
  • TD Ameritrade

At this point, I would like to stress again that you should think in advance about how and what you would want to trade in the stock market. You can also use level II market data.

How to obtain NinjaTrader Free Data Feed or NinjaTrader Free Live Data?

It is possible to access free data feed but not for all markets. For example, the Coinbase connection allows us to have a connection to ninjatrader live cryptocurrency data.

Ninjatrader free data for futures and stocks is only allowed for end of day data, not for live data. We can make a connection with Kinetick which will provide free data feed at the end of each day.

How to Use NinjaTrader Simulator

Everyone knows the term “paper trading”. But paper is long-suffering. In NinjaTrader, trading strategies can be tested in real market conditions in real-time before even a penny of risk capital is invested!

On the one hand, buying and selling can be done classically from the chart. On the other hand, you can also test partially and fully automatic trading strategies.

What I find great is that you can display the trades on the chart. Quick export of the chart and you have your perfect trading journal. Because on the same chart you can also add and save text annotations.

Building Trading Strategies

There are several ways to build your automated strategy in NinjaTrader, we mainly recommend learning C# and programming your source code.

If your programming level is not good, we highly recommend you to try the Stratgy Generator tool that allows less experienced beginners in trading to design and develop new strategies without programming knowledge.

A fully automated trading strategy can be developed and designed by inexperienced traders through point and click with comparatively little effort.
